Life is Uncertain

There are going to be times of uncertainty in our lives.  Some events or circumstances bring us a greater degree of doubt than others.  The best thing we can do for ourselves during these times is to be aware of the emotions we are experiencing and practice living with uncertainty because our ability to do this allows us freedom.

Getting Comfortable with Uncertainty

I have come to understand the importance of being okay with not knowing.  I practice dealing with things as they unfold versus having fear or stress over things that have not happened.  It is exhausting to perpetually live in the state of attempting to avoid a bad future that hasn’t happened yet.  The only thing that is upsetting us about any situation is our thoughts about it.

What You Can Do To Manage Uncertainty

I have found that moving my body, going outside and walking in nature, or doing an exercise class helps me to change my energy flow.  I also look to see what I can do to help another person.  Even if it is as simple as giving them a compliment about their hair or outfit or beautiful eyes or opening a door for them, or paying for their coffee order.  Acknowledging and expressing gratitude for the people, places, and things in my life that bring me joy, and peace, and comfort is also a useful way to spend a few minutes when I find myself leaning toward fear and uncertainty.

I urge you to remember these simple tools the next time you feel like you are on wobbly ground.  Movement, nature, serving others, and thankfulness are readily available to assist you in navigating through a patch of uncertainty.

Stay true and be you —
