Keep Your Ass in the Saddle: How a Farm, a Fire, and Failure Led Me to Freedom: A good read! Really enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to read and inspiring. Miss Fonte has had some gut checks and we can all learn from them if we choose too. In fact, it teaches us to learn from our own gut checks and get on with our lives the best we can. I recommend this book.

Keep Your Ass in the Saddle: How a Farm, a Fire, and Failure Led Me to Freedom: A Must Read!! “Keep Your Ass in the Saddle” was an easy read as she is concise and gets straight to the point. I loved the flow of the book as she separates each important experience in the book within a chapter, along with ‘Pauses and Reflections’ at the end of each chapter. The addition of the ‘Pauses and Reflections’ shows how far she has come as an individual since each experience. Overall, I loved Annie’s authenticity in this book. She owns the good and the bad elements of her story. Even with all her success, Annie is an extremely humble person and strives to help others succeed along with her.I plan to apply Annie’s insight and advice from her journey to my own life. The book really encouraged me to reflect on my journey thus far and to work on my personal development a lot more. As a young adult almost done with college, this book came at the right time as I am about to step into another portion of my life.

Knowing Annie as a child & teenager, I never knew that her life had been so hard. I shed many tears while reading her account of her upbringing. She was someone I always wondered where her life had taken her. Wow, I was so blown away! Her braveness to stand up to a tyrant of a father, her love of her siblings. Later on realizing she had chosen men like her Dad, & then coming full circle & beating the odds. Her story is inspiring, heart felt & genuine. She is as beautiful today as she was when we were kiddos. YOU ROCK ANNIE!!!

Her vivid descriptions of milestone events and conversations with the people who shaped her world gave me a profound understanding of her grit and determination. The deliberate pauses and reminders to think about how I've conducted myself or interact with others or give myself time to be grateful allowed me to contemplate and dissect the way I live my life. Annie weaves a beautiful and thought-provoking tale of hardship, perseverance, intellect and love that any age group would benefit from reading.
