It has been my observation that a great number of people exist in the world with a deep seated idea that they are not “good enough”.  For starters, my question is, “good enough for what or who?”  And, why would one choose to identify with such a powerless label?  Having pondered this observation for awhile, it appears that the feeling of not being “good enough” comes from a lack of grace.  And a lack of grace comes from a lack of gratitude.  Consider this:  When was the last time you listened to your own heartbeat, paid attention to your own breathing or gave thanks for your eyesight and your ability to hear?  Do you take for granted the fact that when you turn a faucet on, water flows from it?  Or that the mere flip of a switch can light up an entire room?  Do you say Grace before eating a meal?

Did you know that 17,000 children die each day in the world from hunger?  That is over 6 million young and innocent beings a year who will never experience another heartbeat or another breath…and when they were alive they didn’t know what a water faucet or electrical switch was, let alone have the safety and comfort of a roof over their head.  I think you get the picture.

I invite you to live in the state of grace…often.  Because one cannot be in the state of grace and be lacking at the same time.  We have so much and yet we walk around empty.  To live graciously we must recognize that “more isn’t always better” and we really do already have all that we need.  Graciousness or grace-filled-ness is not achievable when we are overscheduled, over committed, and overloaded.  Only in a graceful life can one recognize and honor the possessions that we have, appreciate the real worth of loved ones and others we care for, and value what we do.  Do you want to be “good enough”? Then, Be. Grateful. Enough!
