Declutter  Your Body

In my first blog about tidying up, I gave you many examples of how to declutter your environment.  Although that was a good start, we aren’t done with this tidying business.  I want to talk to you about your body.  How does one clean-up their body?  Well, just like in your environment, I invited you to get rid of things that don’t make you feel good or bring you joy.  The same goes for your body.  Stop using your body as dumping ground for food that might taste good, but makes you feel bad.

A Fine-Tuned Machine

I image my body to be a high performing machine.  Something that I need and want to handle with the best of care. Consider this.  If you owned a Ferrari would you put cheap gas in it?  Would you add sugar to the tank to help it perform better?  I am guessing not, because the result would be disastrous.  The same goes for your body.  I think of food as fuel.  I know what foods make me feel and look good and I know which ones don’t.  I only consume ‘fuel’ that allows my body to operate and feel it’s best.

It Is Simple But Challenging

Taking excellent care of your body is simple.  It comes down to making good choices.  Is it easy?  No, and therein lies the challenge.  There is no magic pill.  It takes commitment and discipline.  You have to decide how important your body is to you.  The trouble is, we humans let our feelings get in the way of making good choices.  Instead of getting up and going to the gym each morning or going for a 30-minute run, we hit the snooze button because we don’t ‘feel’ like getting up.  It’s too cold; it’s too early, it’s too dark, it’s too whatever.  And then guess what we are in the habit of hit the snooze button and look at ourselves with disdain each time we catch sight of our body in the mirror.  The same goes for the food we put in our mouth.  Frequently, we choose foods that will soothe us at the moment.  We feel like eating a cheeseburger and fries even though we know it is the wrong choice.  Even though we know that we are going to feel like a fat pig after we eat it.  Well, guess what?  I don’t give a shit about your feelings and you shouldn’t either.  You have to decide how important it is for you to take care of your body.  You have to determine how critical it is for you to look a certain way and be healthy.  The feelings are going to keep rearing their ugly head.  The question is, what action are you going to take when they do.  You cannot control your feelings, but you sure as heck can control how you act.

There Is No Body’s R Us Stores

That’s right there are no Body’s R Us stores, at least not yet, where you can buy replacement body parts for the ones you blow out because of bad choices.  If you are not willing to put the time in effort into managing your health and wellness now, plan on spending a lot of time managing your illnesses in the future.  It’s that simple.  What are you committed to doing to clean-up your body?
