A barn is a quintessential symbol of earthiness, soulfulness, and time honored values.  It is one of those sacred places where transformation, realness and truth can find their way to the surface of one’s soul.

Over the years, many of my friends have joined me at my property (Painted Sky Ranch) to ride horses, go hiking, shoot my bow, or simply sit and chat.  I always tell them to “meet me at the barn”.  When they arrive they immediately succumb to the serenity…they become softer, gentler people.  And upon their departure they are calm and at peace.  As one friend aptly stated, “The energy at Painted Sky Ranch is so positive.  I feel like I have brought it home with me.”

It has been my observation that despite our many comforts we still feel that something is amiss at our very core.  And as certain as we are about this hole in our soul, we have no idea how to fix it…we don’t even know where to start.  We keep looking outside of ourselves for answers.  It is as if a new self is struggling to be born.

The primary challenge as I see it is that many of us are  ‘NOW-aholics’.  We are addicted to the quick and easy.  We want it, whatever ‘it’ is, ‘now’.  We are not tolerant of the discomfort caused by our hunger to come home to our true selves.  It is a process, this recognizing our true selves.  There is no quick fix.  The voyage requires patience, courage, awareness and our commitment to discovering our genuineness.

The barn allows us to slow down a bit.  To contemplate where we are in our lives, to dwell in the precious moments of our evolution.  To get comfortable with the discomfort and move through it to a place of peace in each moment.

I am fortunate to have a ‘real’ barn to go to…it is a sanctuary for my being.  Few people have access to the tangible structure of a barn as I do.  However, I am a believer in the power of metaphors.  And, that is the answer to ‘Why The Barn?’.  I created this for you.  I want you to ‘Meet Me At The Barn’ often.  I want you to find your own sanctity here and amongst the blessedness of it all, I want you to become your True Self!
