Write Yourself A Letter
I have an invitation for you. “What is it?” you say. I invite you to join me in writing a letter to yourself. Sit down between now and the end of the year. Find a quiet corner. Grab a few sheets of inspiring stationery, an envelope, and your favorite pen. If it pleases, you get a cup of coffee, cocoa, tea, a glass of wine, or some sparkling water. Now, settle in and start writing. This letter to yourself is called “A Year From Now.” How do you want your life to look and feel and be? Write it all down.
How do you want your relationship with your spouse, partner, or significant other to be? What actions are you going to take to get you there?
How about your family? How will that be a year from now?
Consider your physical, mental, and spiritual health. What changes do you want to have happen? What does it look like? How does it feel?
How about your vocation? Are you doing what you love or going through the paces each day to make a living? Does your work bring you joy?
What about your finances? Are you where you want to be? If so, how will it be better a year from now?
Reflect on your living environment. Does it bring you peace and safety, or is it chaotic and messy? What are you going to do to change it?
What do you want to learn? Where do you want to go? Who do you want to do it with? Write it all down.
When you finish your letter, fold it up, put it in an envelope, and seal it.
Now, you can do one of two things:
- Please put it in a safe place and make a note to yourself in your calendar a year from now, reminding you where you put it.
- Please give it to a trusted friend or family member and ask them to give or send it to you a year from now.
This time next year, when the letter arrives back in your hands, go to your quiet place, open it up, and read it.
Did what you wrote down come true? How does it feel to read your words to yourself? Are you surprised?
Sometimes, all it takes is to put it out there and take inspired actions to create a life you love.
I hope you write a fantastic letter to yourself and all your desires come true!
