Definition of Home
Most dictionaries define “home” as a place one lives; a residence. Also described as a physical structure within which one lives. Our homes are important to us. They are a place we go to create an environment where we feel safe and at peace. We add our personal touches to them with furniture, paintings,
wallpaper, window coverings, floor coverings, and the like. The location of our home is essential, usually determined by the quality of schools in the area, the safety of the neighborhood, access to shopping, and proximity to highways and byways. But the question is, are you happy there?
Consider This
I would like you to consider a different definition of “home.” Home is a compilation of your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional self. Home is being present in the moment regardless of what is occurring inside or outside your physical body. It is a state of being authentically you; your true essence. It is a return to your original structure with an intimate understanding of your connection to the collective. And just like the roof over your head home, you are in charge of the environment you create.
Within the bricks and mortar of the physical structure of your house, you pick paint colors, cabinetry, and fixtures. You also get to make choices for the home of your being. The options include the thoughts you think, which give meaning to the events in your life. You get to decide how you will maintain your well-being by the foods you eat, the amount of sleep and exercise you get, and the relationships you have with others. You are the architect of your life. Your home can be as magnificent or as run down as you decide to make it. My question remains, are you happy there? It’s up to you.
